The free solution is to use Windows built in Disk Tools. They are called Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter. You can find them by right clicking on the C: drice and hitting Properties. Disk Cleanup will be underneath the pie chart and Disk Defragmenter will be under the Tools Tab. Run these two programs at least once a month to keep your computer running as smoth as possible.

Memory is one of the least expensive upgrades on a computer and it will make your computer work better, especially if you are running Windows Vista. As a computer technician for EMR Tech Services in Orlando, I get this question a lot. The truth is that most of them should be fine for many users. This is because there are new viruses being written every day and the software is as good as the definitions files that it gets from the software maker. This could change in the future as more and more companies use zero-day detection technologies.

For the most part, I try to tell my clients to get Kapersky's or AVG. I have used them more many years and they are very good. Not only that but they are not resource hogs and will not make your machine go slow, like using Norton or Trend Micro.

Since there is at least one new virus a day, no one program is 100% guaranteed, so usually I use 3 at a time whenever I check and clean my computers. Download and install SPYBOT S&D, Superantispyware, and Malwarebytes Anti Malware. Then run them in that order but do not reboot until you are done scanning and cleaning with all three programs. When the last program is done, then reboot and your computer should be back to normal.
